Outdoor Adventures Canada Style: Take it outside!

Tumbler Ridge is a dream destination for outdoors enthusiasts no matter what sort of adventure you're looking for: from high-energy to easygoing. Tumbler Ridge is home to accessible year-round recreational opportunities for all ages, interests and abilities. The possibilities are as diverse as the landscapes in which they appear. 

Wherever you go, whatever you do, Tumbler Ridge is sure to leave you with treasured lasting impressions.

Gwillim Lake Campground

Gwillim Lake is located midway between Tumbler Ridge and Chetwynd – 45kms either direction. Located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, this beautiful lake spans across 6 miles from one end to the other. Great fishing, boat launch, day-use picnic tables, playground, firewood, backcountry campsites, water pump, pit toilets, leashed pets welcome.  49 campsites. Open May 11 - September 12. First come first serve, and fees do apply.

Activities

Camping

There are 50 vehicle/tent campsites available, with fire pits and picnic tables. A hand pump for drinking water is located in the campground (check for boil water advisories), as well as pit toilets throughout the campground. Wood can be purchased in the park, but feel free to bring your own. Daily fees apply. There are day use picnic areas available as well.

Boating / Canoeing

Spanning 6 miles from end to end, there is plenty of room for all sorts of boaters, so bring your water-skis and tubes! There is a boat launch as well as a large parking lot for vehicles and trailers, with a turnaround for easy access.

Hiking

There are posted signs and designated trails for hiking around the lake. Please obey these signs for your own safety.

Swimming

You may want to stick closer to shore as the water is shallower there and much warmer. Swim at your own risk as there are NO lifeguards on duty.

Fishing

The lake is stocked with lake trout, bull trout, northern pike, mountain whitefish, artic grayling, and burbot. Please be sure to have the appropriate Anglers license.

Biking

There are opportunities for biking around the campsite and lake trails.
